Boys & Girls Missionary Challenge is the Assemblies of God’s premier discipleship tool in teaching this next generation of kids to give generously and sacrifice deeply for God’s mission.

Oregon BGMC

Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge instills a heart of compassion to reach the lost through praying, giving, and going. All funds raised through BGMC go to meet critical needs around the world such as feeding programs, water wells, Bible schools, curriculum, and whatever else a missionary needs in the area of the world they serve. BGMC funds also return back to local networks to help fund US missions, such as Youth Alive, Chi Alpha, Home Missions, Teen Challenge, etc.

Summer/Spring BGMC Project

This Summer/Spring for BGMC we are partnering with Tamara Henkes in Romania.

The Kidz Romania team hopes to launch Royal Rangers in 4 different areas of Romania in the year 2020 and 2021. We have made plans to begin the program in Bucharest, the Capital City of Romania, in various towns near the Black Sea, in villages amongst the Romi (gypsy) children and in southern towns near the Bulgarian border. This will be a joint venture consisting of missionaries from the USA, El Salvador, Kenya, local leaders from Romania and of course with BGMC through the kids from the Oregon Network! We are so excited for this amazing team. The leaders from Kidz Romania have been praying for this opportunity to introduce Royal Rangers to so many children in Romania. Here in Europe, Royal Rangers is for both boys and girls. The kids will be working on some of the same badges and merits that many children in the USA work on. Romanian children will be learning about God, reading the Bible, camping, earning badges on First Aid, Astronomy, World Missions, and even earn a badge for JBQ!

The funds will go for a launching two training seminars in two different cities to introduce the Royal Rangers discipleship program to lead pastors and children ministry leaders. We will translate the new international material for both the leader manuals and the children’s manuals, print the manuals, buy badges, provide for transportation to travel for follow up at the new Royal Ranger sites, help with the first camp for the new Romanian Royal Rangers in these four areas, and buy for T-shirts for the children who cannot afford to purchase a Royal Ranger shirt!

Prayer request:

  • Pray that we are able to get all the translation done this year.
  • Pray for the two training seminars, that pastors and leaders will be able to attend
  • Pray that churches will have men and women who will volunteer to be leaders
  • Pray that not just boys and girls from Christian homes will have a chance to become future leaders, but that children who do know God will come to hear about Jesus!

The easiest way for your church and kids to participate is to send in your Spring/Summer BGMC offerings, to the National office, with the Designated Offering Form. You can download this form below.

Missions 1:2:3 Strategy

How do children’s ministries use BGMC in their churches to effectively raise funds for missionaries, teach about finances, and not burden the church?

Here is how: it’s called Missions 1:2:3.

What is Missions 1:2:3?

Simply it is: 1 leader, 2 minute sermons, and 3 month goals.

1 Leader

This ideally is a children’s pastor/worker who can empower volunteer leaders, and students. This is a leader who can make a faith-stretching goal, a leader who can model the desired behavior before their kids. This most likely will need to be a key leader.

2 Minutes

You ask, “Why not once a month? Why each week?” Each week creates a habit that is important. Some kids may want to give but might not be present the week you receive the offering, if it’s done only once a month. Plus, receiving the offering each week keeps the need in front of them.

Take 2 minutes to present an offering sermon. This is not a typical offering appeal, but a mini-sermon. To help you with these 2 minute offering sermons, Next Generation Ministries has developed 52 offering sermons. This way all you will need to do is schedule time for the offering, present the 2 minute sermon and receive the offering each week.

3 Month Goals

There is nothing magical about 3 months; it’s simply easy for kids to remember shorter goals then year-long goals. 3 month goal setting is something you can repeat throughout the year. Maybe have a 3 month goal focus 3 to 4 times a year.

Now, you may be wondering, what role do church offerings and fundraisers play? If we follow the Missions 1:2:3 strategy this becomes the foundation of giving; the church offering becomes the cheering section and a couple well planned fundraisers become icing on the cake rather then the cake itself.

Let’s make sure to teach this Next Generation to be biblical givers; To give in a way that honors and pleases God.
